Positive Feedback: City of Hillsboro

I generally post testimonials that people send me personally, however this one deserves a mention. Good job, Eddie, my coaching does not go unrewarded.

Hello Mr. Molochnikov,

I have been working with Edward Kantorovich on a flash drive order for my non-profit association’s conference in October and I wanted to inform you that you have an excellent employee in him.   He has been nothing but friendly and helpful in answering my constant questions in an extremely timely matter.  He has never made me feel like I am bothering him and has even given us some great deals.

I think that it is very important to recognize great customer service as it does not get done enough these days.  I don’t know about you but as a supervisor myself I only get the person when they want to complain hardly ever the comments that staff was very helpful.

I know I will be recommending your company to others who are looking for items you carry and also will be keeping the information for myself to contact for future needs.

Thanks again for employing such a helpful person.

Business Card USB Drives for HBO’s Bored to Death

bored_to_death_usb

Last Sunday, HBO aired the first episode of it’s new series, Bored to Death. This is an HBO original comedy about a young writer who becomes a private detective.

An original series requires an original promotion. This is why HBO chose us (again). The USB drive they picked, was our Card Disk Mini Flip model. It was printed with Jonathan Ames’ (main character) information that made the drive look like a business card. The phone number, (646) 336-6222 rings a voicemail box where Jonathan’s voice talks about this detective services. Try calling it.

Each USB drive was pre-loaded with a trailer for the show and a “making of” video. They were giving out at various release parties throughout the US.

Order courtesy of: Cornerstone.

The Modern Bride Getaway Car

Conde Nast Publications is a long-time client of mine. They’ve done order for Cookie and Wired Magazine divisions, and now placed a smaller order for the Modern Bride.

The Modern Bride Getaway Car is our standard USB model and is available in silver, white, blue, and red. Photos are below. Drives come out nice.

Another Twitter Order

Twitter USB Drives

Everyone seems to want a Spin drive. By the way, twitter’s second order is ready to ship. Yes, they bought Spin drives, too. They originally wanted something eco-friendly, but ended up getting the Spin.

You see, twitter is an eco friendly company so they don’t print employee manuals, instead they give them out on our USB drives. Initially, we did a few mockups of our “green” USB drives, but the “natural” look was not something twitter was interested in. By default, all USB drives are somewhat eco-friendly. Since you are saving your files in electronic format instead of printing them, you’re already saving the environment. At the same time, absolutely no eco-friendly marketed drives are really eco friendly. For starters, they all have non-eco-friendly components, nor are they produced in a carbon-neutral, wind-powered factory.

Now that that’s out of the way, back to the Spin drives. So as I said, they are very popular and do come in a variety of colors and can even be color matched to your logo using the Pantone chart.

USB Chili Peppers

USB Chili Peppers

Just completed an order for NM Partnership. They are a non-profit government entity that helps businesses relocate and operate in New Mexico. While we love Chicago, we also love chili peppers and were thrilled when NM Partnership decided to do a USB drive in a shape of, well, chili pepper.

Their drives came in two color schemes – red and green. They are very detailed, just as you would expect of our rubber molding process.

Do not each the chili pepper USB drive, if you get one.

Tiny MicroKey Flash Drives for MTV

MTV Viacom MicroKey Flash Drives

Just did an order for MTV Latin America. They did a 7-Day RUSH on our MicroKey USB drives. These tiny (1.2″ x 0.49″ x 0.125″) drives were laser etched with the Viacom logo in two different versions.

Here’s what the good people at MTV LA  said about us:

CustomUSB.com is an excellent service; an awesome supply of products with great customer service and quick response. We had an urgent request met within days… Thanks for your help!!

Microsoft Windows 7 on USB Drives

When I received an email this morning about Microsoft using USB drives to release Windows 7, I thought I’d wait a while before posting it on the blog, but by now, I already 4 people break the news, so it’s going up.

As long as Microsoft can justify the cost of flash drives (which they can easily do by increasing the price of their software  by a few dollars), selling Windows 7 on USB drives is a great idea. Here is how they ought to do it (properly).

  • Create a custom shaped USB drive (possibly in the shape of the new Windows 7 logo) and put some novelty aspect into it. The free PR alone should cover the extra cost.
  • Make the USB drive an authentication tool (in addition to being the software delivery device). Have Windows 7 installation files reference a serial number on the USB drive. This will prevent piracy.
  • Do the USB drives as a limited edition release. Don’t sell all versions on USB drives, just the premium one (with all the add-ons FREE, to justify higher price).

2 Custom Projects for Conde Nast Publications

Cookie Magazine Custom Rubber Drives

Conde Nast Publications has been a long-time customer of ours. We mainly did work for their Cookie Magazine division. This year, Cookie Magazine made it to the Adweek 2009 Hotlist and to celebrate the occasion, they did something different. Borrowing the USB Press Kit idea, they create a custom shaped USB drive. The rectangle shaped drive had the Cookie logo embossed on the top and came in 4 colors that also matched the colors on the packaging.

Wired Magazine Etch2 USB Drives

The second project was for Wired Magazine, who was also mentioned by Adweek. Wired chose our Etch2 model and printed a black logo on a silver surface. Each drive was pre-loaded with 200+ megs of articles that covered a common theme – “The Future of Advertising 2009″. Each drive was also package in a custom printed white magnetic box.

Here is a quick note from the Wired people – We got them and they look great. Thanks for all your help!”.
